Rumen fermentation kinetics of lupin flakes and the consequent effects of lupin flake supplementation on Hanwoo steer growth, blood biochemical indicators, and carcass features were the central focus of this study. Trials of lupin grains and flakes, encompassing both in vitro and in situ approaches, were conducted using three Hanwoo cows with rumen fistulas. The feeding trial utilized 40 early-fattening Hanwoo steers, randomly partitioned into control, T1, T2, and T3 groups. Their formula feed was formulated with different levels of lupin flakes, specifically 0%, 3%, 6%, and 9%, respectively. Following 6 and 24 hours of in vitro incubation, the lupin flake group exhibited lower rumen pH and ammonia concentrations compared to the lupin grain group, a statistically significant difference (p<0.05). Lupin flakes, after 12 hours of incubation, showed a greater concentration of propionate, butyrate, and total volatile fatty acids than lupin grains (p < 0.005). The crude protein disappearance rate also exhibited a significant increase in the lupin flake group at 9 and 12 hours of rumen fermentation (p < 0.005). Lupin flakes, when added as a supplement, did not result in any alteration to the average daily weight gain. A decrease in dry matter intake was observed in the groups supplemented with lupin flakes, compared to the control group (p<0.005). Treatments T2 and T3 displayed better feed conversion ratios (p<0.005), while plasma total protein concentration was lower in treatments T1 and T3 in 29-month-old steers (p<0.005). The addition of lupin flakes to the diet led to a significantly lower plasma triglyceride concentration in the supplemented groups, compared to the control group (p<0.005). Yield grade A occurred more frequently in treatment groups T1 and T2 compared to the control group; meat quality 1+ or higher was most prevalent in T2. The auction price for the carcass was greater in T2 compared to the other groups. Lupin flakes, in comparison to whole lupin grains, appear to have a more significant effect on rumen ammonia levels and the rate of crude protein loss within the rumen. An ebulliometer was employed to measure vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data under isobaric conditions for the binary systems tetrahydrofuran (THF) + acetic acid (AA) and THF + trichloroethylene (TCE). Boiling temperature data for the (THF + AA/THF + TCE) systems, spanning 13/15 compositions and 5/6 pressures, is reported, with pressure varying from 502/600 kPa to 1011/1013 kPa, respectively. The THF and AA system demonstrates a simple phase behavior profile, free of azeotrope formation. The THF-TCE system's lack of azeotrope formation is accompanied by a pinch point localized near pure TCE. To accurately represent the binary (PTx) data, the nonrandom two-liquid (NRTL) and universal quasichemical (UNIQUAC) activity coefficient models were employed. The binary VLE data was found to be appropriately modeled by both models.
